Committed to the Cause

Committed to the Cause is the theme of this year’s fall program at Liberty Baptist Church. God allowed me the privilege of heading up this program for my dad. Many challenges presented themselves after the original planning meeting back in May. One of the main challenges was to promote an excellent program within a smaller budget. Funds haven’t been what they once were. As I thought about the financial state of many in our area, the Lord kept bringing up the word “committed” in my mind. Commitment - isn’t that what it takes anyway? Should we invite people for prizes, prestige, or trips? I am not against prizes. I am not against trips. But I am 110% FOR doing right for the right reasons!

God began to work in my heart, leading me to the theme Committed to the Cause. We invited Chantha Chhim, Administrative Pastor at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Hot Sprint, AR, to speak on his amazing quest for freedom from the country of Cambodia. The next weeks will focus on Family, our Future (youth and children’s ministries), and the Faith (Open House Sunday.)

Here’s our strategy: we believe canvassing to be extremely effective in attracting new guests to our church. We have always had what we call a “Saturation Saturday” before our last Sunday of our fall program, and they have been moderately successful. This year, I decided to challenge our people to not only canvas for one weekend, but to commit to canvassing for each of our four fall program weeks. I have asked each person or family to go back to the SAME doors on the same streets each week for four weeks. Each week, we have a different flyer that promotes each individual Sunday’s theme. I figured that this will open the door for some to come that may be busy or have scheduling conflicts. They know we have a lot going on for four straight weeks!

I’m asking all of you to pray for us here at LBC. We truly want to see God build His church. Scores of our folks have been fasting and praying. We truly believe God has some special things in store for us. Please pray for us, and we will keep you updated.
