Happy New Decade!

That’s right! Today being January 1st, we have all been bombarded with Happy New Year text messages, Facebook messages, and yes even tweets. I have done my share of reflection on the year that was 2009, and I have set some goals for this year as well. I believe everyone should. If you have no goals, you will stay as you are and eventually digress.
A couple of days ago, it clicked (I’m semi-blonde…happened after I got married) that this is also the conclusion of a decade. I haven’t ever really thought of my life in decades before…I’m only 27…but as I think back over the last ten years, I cannot help but thank God for His mercy. The years from 17-27 years old are the most important due to all the life-altering decisions that are made. The choice of college education many times determines who you marry, your philosophy on life, and your job once you graduate. I’ll be honest, I didn’t have the greatest first half of this decade. God was putting me through my time of questioning and trials…nothing like Job or anything. However, God still saw fit to allow me the opportunity of working in the ministry at Liberty. I am forever grateful for my life.
On June 10, 2006, I married my beautiful wife! That was a life-changer….LOL! Life all of a sudden wasn’t all about me, it was about “us.” Then God gave us Kelsey, and once again life wasn’t about “us,” it was about “her.”
As many of us have made New Years resolutions, I encourage you to make New Decade resolutions as well. My resolutions are private goals that I have for my life, but they are there. Where will you be 10 years from today?
Just some food for thought.
